Revanscraig Castle:
Ravenscraig Castle (pictured below):
Belonged to the Le Neyms, latterly by the Cheynes and was built
in the Anglo-Norman style of the 13th Century. It was here that
'Robert the Bruce watered his horse in the Ugie', prior to the
battle of Barra. James IV also stayed here. Both Kings were
suppressing political disorder.

The remains of Ravenscraig are in a ruinous
state but still quite imposing. Access is across sheep-fields
over barbed-wire fences and some rough ground. The castle
was built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river Ugie (as
can be seen from picture below, left). The ruins are accessible
with great care as there are sheer drops from windows and
holes in the walls. Features can be clearly seen such as the
fireplace and chimney (below, right) and defence emplacements
(further below, right).
