Follow the road around an uphill section for one mile and take a right, signed New Deer, after a further mile turn left to head down into New Deer, with the Culsh Monument again visible on the skyline. Pass through Commonly and past the church spire to take a tight left bend around the perimeter of the cemetery. Alternatively, you could turn right just past the church spire and visit New Deer. On the return back to New Pitsligo, the route continues around the east side of the cemetery and passes the Culsh Monument. Follow the road and after a tight right bend at Culsh. At the next fork (300m), take the right turn signed Oldwhat. Follow the road past South Oldwhat, and Oldwhat Community Centre to the junction where you turn right and climb the hill. A view over Fedderdale Reservoir opens up to the right. Continue on the road to the crossroads rum right to pass South Nittenshead. After 2 miles, at the next crossroads turn left, signed New Pitsligo.
